Treatment of periodontitis

Periodontitis occurs when inflammation passes from the pulp to the tip of the dental root and surrounding tissues.

Previously, periodontitis was considered a clear indication for tooth extraction, but now modern doctors successfully treat it. In our clinic, thanks to professional specialists and equipment, even complex types of periodontitis are treated.

Indications of acute periodontitis of the tooth

Among the main features there are:

  • The appearance of increasing pain (not sharp with mechanical action as with pulpitis, but constant);
  • Temperature increase to 37.5;
  • Tooth mobility;
  • Swelling of the cheek;
  • Swollen gums.

Indications of chronic dental periodontitis

In cases where periodontitis is sluggish, it should not be ignored. The chronic periodontitis can be accompanied with:

  • Weight in the tooth area;
  • Bursting in the tooth area;
  • Pain when chewing.

How is the periodontitis diagnosed

After the X-ray, the doctor can accurately diagnose periodontitis. Also, during the examination, you can see redness, swelling of the gums, and even wounds with pus. This indicates an acute inflammatory process. Periodic medical examinations and diagnostics are important in order not to bring periodontitis to the chronic- stage, this will allow you to avoid pain and keep your teeth healthy.

Treatment of periodontitis is not fast, usually, it is necessary about 5-7 visits to the doctor, depending on the stage of the disease. Our specialists can fight this disease efficiently and professionally.

Treatment of acute periodontitis

By acute periodontitis, first of all, the pus and relieve pain symptoms should be removed. For that, it’s necessary to:

  • Drill the tissue affected by caries under anesthesia;
  • Remove the affected pulp;
  • Treat the canals and wash them with antiseptic;
  • Widen the hole in the upper part of the tooth for better discharge of pus.
  • If there is a flux, an incision may be needed.

Then the doctor prescribes treatment for the patient, usually, it includes taking antibiotics, antihistamines, and anti-inflammatory drugs.
During the second visit to the doctor, the medicine is placed in the canals and a temporary filling is placed.

It is very important to consult a doctor in time because teeth affected by periodontitis can negatively affect other organs: the heart, kidneys, and even joints!
